Complete Information on Apert Syndrome With Treatment and Prevention

The Apert symptom is a gene slight defect and belongs to the craniofacial anomaly the broad classification. The chances of having another child with Apert Syndrome is almost non-existent if both parents are unaffected. If one parent has Apert Syndrome, there is a chance that his children will have Apert Syndrome. Individuals with Apert syndrome have webbed or fused fingers and toes. The severity of the fusion varies; at a minimum, three digits on each hand and foot are fused together. In the most severe cases, all of the fingers and toes are fused. Less commonly, people with this condition may have extra fingers or toes. Apert syndrome is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, which means one copy of the altered gene in each cell is sufficient to cause the disorder. It is speculated that older fathers are more likely to have mutations in the chromosomes of their sperm.

Apert syndrome is detected in the newborn period due to craniosynostosis and associated findings of syndactyly in the hands and feet. The major attribute of this syndrome is syndactyly of the hands and feet. Commonly there is fusion of fingers or toes with usually an equal amount on both sides. Almost all cases of Apert syndrome result from new mutations in the gene, and occur in people with no history of the disorder in their family. Individuals with Apert syndrome, however, can pass along the condition to the next generation. The middle of the face in Apert’s is both retruded and very hypoplastic. This causes the central midface to have a characteristic sunken-in appearance with the nose being thick and beaked. Most children with Apert syndrome are of normal intelligence but mild learning difficulty occurs in some cases.

Apert syndrome is primarily characterized by specific malformations of the skull, midface, hands, and feet. The cranial malformations are the most apparent effects of acrocephalosyndactyly. Cranial synostosis occurs, as explained above, with Brachiocephaly being the common pattern of growth. Due to the premature closing of sutures of the skull, increased cranial pressure develops which sometimes leads to mental deficiency. Many of the characteristic facial features of Apert syndrome result from the premature fusion of the skull bones. The head is unable to grow normally, which leads to a sunken appearance in the middle of the face, bulging and wide-set eyes, a beaked nose, and an underdeveloped upper jaw leading to crowded teeth and other dental problems. Shallow eye sockets can cause vision problems. Other features of acrocephalosyndactyly may be shallow bony orbits and broadly spaced eyes.

Genetic counseling may be of value to prospective parents. There’s no cure for Apert syndrome, but much can be done to prevent or treat complications and help the child grow as normally as possible. Surgery is needed to prevent the closing of sutures in the skull from damaging brain development. The child may need care from many different specialists over the years, including craniofacial surgeons, speech therapists and ophthalmologists. Combined orthodontic and orthognathic surgery can help to relieve some of the facial deformities, such as the flat or concave face. One important aim of the treatment is to prevent a build-up of pressure on the brain. Additionally, aggressive surgery is needed to separate as many fingers and toes as possible in life. The fingers may be separated to improve hand movement and the toes separated if they interfere with walking.

Complete Information on Aortic Supravalvular Stenosis With Treatment and Prevention

Aortic supravalvular stenosis is a fixed kind of inborn left ventricular leakage parcel interference that occurs as a localized or a diffuse narrowing of the ascending aorta beyond the excellent edge of the sinuses of Valsalva. Severe left ventricular leakage parcel interference and coronary artery disease may too induce liberal dyspnea upon exertion, angina, and syncope in serious cases and may account for the morbidity in aortic supravalvular stenosis. Bacterial endocarditis can too induce mortality and morbidity in aortic supravalvular stenosis. The sporadic form of aortic supravalvular stenosis is the most common presentation. Patients may have associated peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis but show no other features of Williams syndrome.

Aortic supravalvular stenosis may happen periodically, as an expression of elastin arteriopathy, or as region of williams syndrome, a hereditary disorder with autosomal predominant heritage. Sudden death can happen in raw patients with aortic supravalvular stenosis. However, this appears to be comparatively uncommon whole. Sudden death is more common with Williams syndrome and aortic supravalvular stenosis with diffuse peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis. Sudden death can occur in untreated patients with aortic supravalvular stenosis. However, this appears to be relatively rare overall. Patients with aortic supravalvular stenosis usually become symptomatic during childhood, but aortic supravalvular stenosis is usually identified during infancy in cases associated with Williams syndrome.

The symptoms which are caused by supravalvar aorta constriction usually develop in childhood and do in small child time, however, some patients may develop symptoms in the second or third decade of life. Newborn infants with acute aortic stenosis present with signs of circulatory collapse, cyanosis, or congestive heart failure. Hypotension, tachycardia, respiratory distress, irritability, and poor peripheral perfusion are nonspecific signs of physiologic distress, RV hypertrophy will be present. Hepatomegaly may be present, as well peripheral edema and decreased peripheral pulses. Respiratory distress may be present. A condition known as Williams Synrome is associated with nearly half the cases of supravalvular aortic stenosis. Cardiac silhouette may be variably increased, and the ascending aorta may be asymmetrically dilated. The presence of both findings indicates hemodynamically significant aortic supravalvular stenosis.

A suitable diagnosis of aorta supravalvular constriction cannot be made, and the patients and their families can observe continuation care badly. Surgery is primary treatment for supravalvar aorta constriction. Catheter intervention in the form of transcatheter balloon angioplasty has not been found to be an effective treatment because the relief in gradient across aortic supravalvular stenosis is usually small and transient. Immediate surgical intervention is necessary, and may come in the form of balloon valvuloplasty, this, however, may result in complications relating to the small size and age of the patient. Open repair under direct vision is usually preferred. Percutaneous arterial stenting has been used to correct peripheral vascular stenoses, while surgical correction, either with patch augmentation or tube graft replacement, is favored for supravalvular aortic stenosis.

Babies Nighttime Help

There’s only so much one person (or two) can do to get a baby to go to sleep. There are things you can use other than your own shoulder to help lull your baby to sleep.

A baby swing can be a good idea and leave your hands free. Set the swing at a slow and gentle rock; you don’t want this to be an exciting or stimulating experience. You want to make it relaxing so your baby can fall asleep.

A glider or rocker is restful for both of you. And a good pillow support, like a Boppy® pillow is good for late-night breast feeding. It’s a nice U-shaped pillow that provides good support for your baby, as well as for your back.

If you’re on a budget, some parents swear by putting their baby in a baby seat and putting it on top of a dryer. If you do this, be sure to put the dryer on air only – you don’t want to overheat him.

A motorized cradle or bassinette can also be soothing for a baby. As a last resort, you can always bundle the baby into his car seat and drive around the neighborhood until he falls asleep. Many experts don’t recommend artificial aids like this however, as it’s impossible to sustain it and you won’t get the baby used to sleeping on his own.

There are also many ambient noise machines on the market that can also help mask household noises and provide a soothing environment for the baby (and for many adults). You can usually set them for a variety of noises, like rainfall, windchimes or ocean sounds. You can also leave the TV on quietly in another room so the baby doesn’t feel completely isolated in his room.

Functional and Appealing Baby Strollers

Baby strollers are the most often used equipment and one of the most essential for parents to purchase. These are steel or aluminum frames fitted with wheels and fabric harnesses, carriages, and seats. They are of varying sizes and styles, and as the term indicates, they are used for carrying or transporting babies around safely and comfortably.

Varied Designs

Baby strollers come in specific designs. Some are built sturdily, with big all-terrain wheels for when the mother goes out jogging, shopping, or enjoying the outdoors with her baby close to her at all times. Others are lightweight, with emphasis on the type of materials used for the seats and harnesses, which can protect the child effectively against the elements. There are even models built with multiple seats for carrying more than one infant at once. Many of these types are fitted with additional storage compartments for essentials such as diapers, extra clothing, and the like. Specific terms used to refer to these different types are “Jogging,” “Traveler,” “Umbrella,” “Carriage,” and “Convertible” type strollers.

More Benefits

Many baby stroller models double as car seats with a few quick and easy adjustments. This contributes greatly to a more convenient travel. In most cases, these particular types are light enough to be carried into and out of the car with ease. They can weigh as relatively little as 20 pounds. Most strollers of all sizes and designs weigh from less than 15 pounds to 25 pounds or more. More important, these lighter units maintain their durability and sturdiness through constant and prolonged use.

There are also those that have adjustable handles and seats, allowing them to be positioned for maximum comfort for both the baby and the person controlling the stroller. In addition, many other models have replaceable covers and seats, which effectively solve cleanliness issues while giving the equipment flexible options for design, color, patterns, and the like. In other words, not only are baby strollers practical, but they can also be stylish.

Baby strollers vary in prices depending on the type, size, design, kind and availability of accessories, and the number of seats. The particular stroller accessories that may come with a purchase are seat or cover replacements, tote bags, inserts, and paddings. Generally, the price range across all types and models is from less than $80 to more than $800.

While baby strollers are easy enough to find in local retail outlets, it is advisable to shop online where one can take advantage of numerous choices and purchase options such as free shipping, sale or discounted prices (up to 25% or more in some shops) and other special offers. The most prominent sellers are Amazon, AlbeeBaby, Strollers, Babychecklist, and more. The top brands, meanwhile, are Bugaboo, Kelty, Stokke’s, BabyGearExpo, and a few others.

Parents or guardians must provide infants with utmost care while they try to maintain the quality and frequency of other essential or rewarding activities. While keeping this in mind, buying the most suitable baby stroller to carry and transport the child with ease, comfort, and safety definitely qualifies as one of those appropriate methods.

Baby Bedding Checklist For Necessities

6. Baby Bedding – Checklist for necessities

When you are preparing to outfit a room for a new baby, you will probably have already decided on things like the color and general theme of the room, but perhaps you haven’t yet determined what specific baby bedding you will need for the nursery. You can always think of things that would be fun to place in the new room, but perhaps the most important decision you will make is the sleeping arrangements for your child. Once you have selected the theme of the room and the style of furniture that you plan to acquire, the next decision will be the baby bedding. Here are some ideas about this important subject.

Mattress

The first item of baby bedding is the mattress or sleeping pad that you choose for your baby. Most cribs, cradles and other such equipment come equipped with a mattress pad. You can generally select either a traditional mattress that often has polyester foam with a washable cover of some sort, or an organic mattress which may be composed of cotton fiber rather than man made materials. Typically, an organic mattress will not contain chemical sprays or coatings. In either case, the mattress should be firm enough to support the baby and should fit the size of the crib or cradle correctly.

Sheets and blankets

The next item of baby bedding to consider is that of sheets and blankets for your infant. A fitted sheet that is the correct size for the mattress is important. Again, you can choose between many types of materials that are organic or manmade according to your personal preference. In many instances, parents today are choosing hypoallergenic baby bedding in order to reduce the chance of irritants and allergens which can create rashes and breathing problems, respectively, in the infant. Whether you prefer silk or cotton, pastels or primary colors, you can find a plethora of choices in keeping with the theme you have selected for the baby’s room.

Bumper

Somehow, the added touch of a crib bumper appeals to many parents, with the idea that it will protect the head of the infant from the wood of the crib or cradle. However, child safety experts are increasingly recommending against the use of a bumper because of safety reasons. If you choose to install a crib bumper, in keeping with the theme of the room, be sure to select one that is not loose or fluffy, but plain with no tassels or ruffles. You can still use colors to match the balance of the baby bedding decor.

Pillow

As an item of baby bedding, a pillow is NOT recommended. In addition to possible allergens and irritants in the pillow, the danger of suffocation is too great. No baby bedding items need be in the crib except the mattress and fitted sheet. No stuffed animals, no pillows or other such items. If you want a pillow or comforter for decorative reasons, you should remove them prior to placing the child down to sleep.

8 Tips on How to Lose Baby Weight Fast

Continue nursing – if you are nursing, you really lose weight very rapidly and you can still enjoy an extra 500 calories daily.

Keep moving – new moms are given up to a year to get the weight off. However, whatever you do, don’t allow let the weight settle.

No more white bread – whole wheat only or wholegrain.

No soda – avoid it like the plague and drink water only (or the odd glass of pure fruit juice, or sugar free). Water really is one of the major keys to weight loss – it breaks down the fat and flushes your body clean.

Dancing, or another enjoyable hobby – I took up Contemporary Jazz dancing after my first child, and was surprised when I met up with a friend I hadn’t seen in quite a while and she thought I was slimmer than I had been before I had my baby!! The best part is – it didn’t even feel like exercise, I really enjoyed it!

Walk to the local shops instead of driving – put the baby in a stroller and walk briskly, a great way to enjoy the fresh air and get that heart rate pumping. Walking is also great if you suffer from post-natal depression, it’s very therapeutic.

Strip That Fat – The other solution that will help you work wonders on your body (the healthy way and for long term results) is the Strip That Fat program. Most diets simply do not work because they are burst diets. They help you lose a few pounds in a couple of weeks…and then BAM, the weight comes back on. That’s because the weight you lose on those diets is water weight – water is easily removed and easily reintroduced to the body…and you can fluctuate 10lbs in a couple of weeks just by losing some water weight! This is not sustainable and this is why the Strip That Fat system makes more sense. It is long term, helps you lose fat (instead of water) and is sustainable. Click Here to check it out and see what they can do for you.

Yoga – many people think that yoga is just stretching. But while stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. Babies Music for Babies

You’ve probably seen videos and CDs for babies. There are some theories that classical music can make your baby smarter, and exposing your baby to music is part of what we do to introduce them to all the sights and sounds of their world.

Music can definitely help calm your baby down and put him in a restful state at bedtime or nap time. What are some good choices for a baby?

Almost anything you love or use for relaxation is good for a baby too. There are good collections of Mozart or Bach for bedtime. The music of Enya can be very soothing as well. Georgia Kelly’s harp music is also relaxing and peaceful.

When your baby’s awake, there are lots of nursery rhymes or music from kids’ movies that can stimulate his senses. We’ve known kids who respond to minimalist Phillip Glass’s music; it’s simple and rhythmic and when they get older, they’ll dance with it. Spirituals and soft gospel music are also good choices to help the baby get to sleep.

White noise, in the form of a fan (not directed right at the baby), or from sound machines that simulate the sound of an ocean or rain can be restful as well, and can block out noise from the home. You don’t need to create an artificially silent environment for the baby, however, since that can make it harder for them to get to sleep when the home’s rhythms and noises get back to normal.

This is a great time for you to explore classical music as well, if it’s not already part of your life. The same music that’s helping your baby get to sleep can help soothe your own nerves and provide a wonderful time of bonding and restfulness for you and your baby together.

Burn Your Baby Fat Get Your Body Back

This lifestyle program for busy moms is a comprehensive guide to what’s arguably the most widespread, challenging and frustrating issue faced by moms today: how to get their pre-baby body back. For almost all mothers the changes their bodies incur during pregnancy coupled with the countless responsibilities that motherhood bring spell trouble for regaining their pre-pregnancy figure.

There is no shortage of fitness, diet and fat loss products on the market today. You can find a veritable library of conflicting arguments almost anywhere you choose to seek information on the subject of fitness for women, whether it’s online, at your local library, through contact with personal trainers, or through the (less reputable but nevertheless very common) ranks of wannabe experts: aka, those frustrating people with no qualifications and no practical experience but are self professed experts because they ready the last issue of Shape magazine.

What Sets This Product Apart? After months of frustration spent trawling through the mass of conflicting information on fitness and fat loss, it was with a mixture of joy and near-tearful relief that I stumbled across “Fit Yummy Mummy”, by Holly Rigsby. As the title suggests, this product is specifically for moms wanting to get fit. Literally all aspects of losing fat and getting fit are covered – and the best part is that it is written specifically for busy moms.

The material is presented in a manner both chatty and educational – it’s kind of like having a friendly conversation with a close friend that happens to be a fitness expert (with the added benefit of being able to refresh your understanding of the matter at any given time, simply by scrolling back to the relevant section.

The tone of the book presents a welcome contrast to the other fitness products so freely available elsewhere on the Net: it’s friendly, understanding of the unique situations moms face, informative, and above all, commonsensical. No unrealistic recommendations, 2 hour workouts, or zero-carb diets here: it doesn’t take long to see that this lady knows what she’s talking about when it comes to mom’s lifestyles (and did I mention she’s a mom too.

There’s a quick section on getting started and goal setting along with some morale-boosting advice on how to stay on track throughout the program, and then it’s straight into an action plan to get you started on the path to burning baby fat and getting your body back.

The Supportive Nutrition Plan is next – this is particularly helpful! Every conceivable nutrition issue is covered, from how often you should eat to what you should keep in your pantry. And on top of that, it includes a ‘Create a Menu Planner’ to guide you in creating every meal to support your success.

Next, the Fit Yummy Mummy fat loss workouts are covered, but not without easy to follow explanations of the why’s and the how’s for every part of the workout program. The workout plan even offers four different formats that you can plug into your lifestyle, something not found in any of the cookie cutter fat loss programs on the market. My favorite part of the workout section is that regardless of your exercise (or lack of exercise) background, there is a workout designed specifically for you. And no matter what you fitness level is, none of the workout programs require more than 90 minutes a week.

Finally, there’s a section called the Busy Mom’s Fat Loss Companion crammed with easy to use tools and resources like a goal setting sheet, fitness journal, exercise descriptions and even a ready made grocery list. The author has figured out every excuse and obstacle busy moms have and addressed them all.

Sound overwhelming? It’s actually very user-friendly. Not only is this e-book packed with sound practical advice and the whole thing is laid out in a very logical and easy-to-understand format, but it comes with a Quick Start Guide to make sure you start acting (and seeing results) fast. The tone of Fit Yummy Mummy light and non-threatening (no scientific terminology here!) and it proceeds in a logical manner from step to step, with plenty of photos and descriptions to ensure that you are doing everything right.

In my opinion, one of the best parts: a follow up e-mail coaching series from the author that keeps you on track, gives you daily fitness tips and even healthy recipes. While most moms have the best of intentions, staying on track is tough. This follow up e-mail coaching series is the perfect solution.

Regaining their pre-pregnancy body is a daunting task for most moms, but the author’s personal experience and hands on work with over 250 moms is pretty reassuring; and she certainly knows how to break it down for even the most exercise illiterate. In addition to the main features detailed above, there are plenty of valuable extras included to make getting your pre-baby body back as easy as possible: checklists, do’s and don’ts, printable workout sheets, even ready to follow meal plans!

All in all, two thumbs up from me: when the information on hand is as detailed, easy to absorb, and – above all – reliable as http://www.yummymummydirect.com. You really can’t go wrong.
